The customer onboarding software category now has more than 40 vendors in it. That’s a lot of options, and at first glance, many of them look similar.
But when you look closely at what each platform actually does, you see where they differentiate themselves. Not every tool is solving the same problem, and not every team has the same onboarding challenge to solve.
We’ve been tracking this market for years, and our 2026 market report gave us a chance to map feature coverage across the top 10 customer onboarding platforms in a structured way. The visual below is our honest take on how they compare.
To us, a few things stand out from the data.
Platforms like Rocketlane and Precursive are built primarily around the internal operations of running a services organization, with capabilities built around managing capacity, time tracking, and delivery billing.
Gainsight, Totango, ChurnZero, and Planhat are oriented toward what happens after go-live, with health scoring, renewals, and long-term retention in mind.
Pendo is squarely focused on in-product adoption for companies running a product-led motion.
GUIDEcx, Dock, and OnRamp sit in a different part of the market, each platform built specifically for the client onboarding period itself, when a complex onboarding process requires tight customer collaboration and accountability between your team and your customer’s team.
The distinctions introduce different trade-offs because they’re designed for different motions. The right one for you depends on where your onboarding process actually breaks down and what your team needs to improve it.
If you want to dig deeper into any of the platforms in the comparison, our full 2026 market report has detailed evaluations of all ten.
